In order to welcome the successful convening of the Qingdao SCO Summit and improve the air quality environment, the Qingdao Municipal Government launched the "SCO Summit Construction System Environmental Quality Assurance Work Plan" some time ago. The "Plan" clearly stipulates that the summit will be suspended from May 26 to July 12, 2018, and the scope of the shutdown involves four districts and one city in Qingdao. With the main stadium as the center and 50 kilometers, 100 kilometers and 300 kilometers as the reference radius, three areas are delineated, namely the core area, the strict control area, and the control area. In order to ensure local air quality, polluting companies around Qingdao have begun to suspend and restrict production. The key industries involving petrochemical, steel, chemical, coking, cement and other key industries have adopted measures to limit production, pollution or stop production to reduce pollutant emissions. Production will stop until around June 20, and the shutdown period will be about one month.
